LEAPING WIN WAS RAD

Full marks to Trackside Photography for snapping this pic of Rad winning a Maiden at Port Macquarie last Friday.
A $1.80 favourite, Rad was well clear of rivals near the wire, yet produced this leap worthy of a Grand National performer.
Jockey Andrew Gibbons had a feeling something was about to happen as they approached the post: “I felt over the last 50 metres he was having a bit of a look at the winning post but I thought he might step out away from it … I put the whip away, gave him a dig, and the next thing he’s launched at it. Because he went straight it was okay but if he’d have jumped and shied at the same time I might have had a problem.
“He was pretty smooth actually. It made for a great shot and it will probably make it into my living room.”
Not to mention a few Facebook pages!
