John and Rosemary Cotter are lovely folk and both are riding on a high of late with their Choisir colt from Lanadee selling for $235,000 at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
On their behalf, Eliza Park also sold a Kempinsky colt from their stakes winning mare, Permai, to Robbie Griffiths at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions for $130,000.
Permai was an astute purchase for the Cotters given that they snapped her up for $70,000 at the 2005 Inglis June Thoroughbred Sale and only a short time prior to her filly Permaiscuous’ thrilling run of six victories, including the Carbine Club Stakes-G3 at Flemington on Derby Day.
And Robbie Griffiths, who has had a considerable deal of success with Eliza Park sale graduates, was pretty pleased too when Kempinsky came out at Moonee Valley last Thursday night (1 April) and absolutely brained ‘em, winning the Hamper World Handicap over 1000m by a whopping six lengths.
The Cotters, who retained a share in Perminsky, could not have fared better in the ‘timing’ stakes given that their Choisir filly from Permai will enter the ring as Lot 94 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday (6 April).
Good luck John and Rosemary.
