500 FOR BEL

Island Bel today had the distinction of becoming BEL ESPRIT’s 500th winner when successful on debut over 1300m at Canberra.
Having her first start, Island Bel was sent out friendless in betting ($31) but raced liked an odds on pop, looking the winner a long way from home: and unless trainer Lance Doolan decides to start her in a Group One soon, it’s highly unlikely you’ll get those odds about the filly – from the Marooned mare Dawn Again – again!
Sitting just off the pace until the final bend, 3kgs claimer Kayla Nisbet rode the S Woodcock and Meredith Park bred filly a treat, weaving her way through traffic for an impressive win.
It won’t be her last.

Happy 500 Bel Esprit.
