Inexplicably
– particularly in light of progeny performances – Champion sire Bel Esprit was
not universally regarded as a ‘sales’ horse, but that perception well and truly
appears to have altered with the results of the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Aside from
selling to almost 7 times service fee in the first 4 sessions on the Coast (see
below), he blew them away on the final day of the sale, by topping the session
and garnering the top average to boot.
