Impressive wire-to-wire effort by Statue of
Liberty 2YO, New York Rain, over 1200m at Cranbourne on Sunday – the filly’s
first victory after debuting in a Listed event at Flemington on Cup Day.
The Robbie Laing trained youngster clearly
has plenty of ability and was sent out a $2.45 favourite at Cranbourne: and not
disappointing her band of owners with a command performance.
After being off the scene for a couple of
years, Statue of Liberty’s first crop of 2YOs since his return, continue to
excite and the New York Rain victory follows on the hoof on other 2013 2YO
winners such as Octane Flyer, Baker Boy, Ile Aux Cygnes and Spirits Dance.
