LIVING LEGENDS ONLINE AUCTION

The 2010 Living Legends Online Auction was again a winner for the International Home of Rest for Champion Horses, with tenders to Eliza Park stallions raising over $84,000 in funding.
Coupling the final hours of the online auction with bids taken in person at the Open Day & Industry Expo last Friday (27 August), the action heated up as the closing time of 3.30pm neared.
“The level of interest that the auction generated was quite remarkable,” Eliza Park’s Mark Lindsay pointed out. “We had a steady run of bids leading up to the Friday, but with over 400 people in attendance at our open day we had to juggle online bids and tenders from broodmare owners in attendance.
“Not surprisingly, there were a lot of ‘visitors’ at the Living Legends marquee directly after the stallion parade. The stallions looked in terrific order and BUSHRANGER, in particular, made a huge impact.
“He (Bushranger) has only just arrived at the farm after covering a 200 plus book in his first season in Ireland, but looked an absolute picture.
“Not only did we get his tender away for the Living Legends auction, we also sold quite a few nominations and shares in him on the day.
“After all, Bushranger was Champion 2YO of England and Champion 2YO of France, and broke a track record for six furlongs at Newmarket. All that aside, his conformation is something else: one look and your hooked.”
