SHADES OF TYCOON

The spotlight has well and truly fallen on Written Tycoon 2YOs with the unbeaten Grand Tycoon taking out the Elwick Stakes-LR in Hobart on Sunday, followed by a trial double at Warwick Farm this morning.
Bjorn Baker’s Hanwritten notched up the fastest 2YO trial of the day (47.0 seconds) while the cleverly named, Fiftyshadesofgrey, was a shade slower (47.2 seconds) in taking out her heat some 12 minutes earlier.
Hanwritten – who hails from the Honours List mare Ras El Hanout – is a full brother to Robert Heatcote ‘flyer’, Smasher, who won convincingly on debut at Doomben in January.
Meanwhile, Fiftyshadesofgrey might – if nothing else – end up with the name of the year given the popularity of EL James, the self-publishing ‘tycoon’ who has become a global sensation with the release of her Fifty Shades trilogy.
Trained by Marc Conners, Fiftyshadesofgrey is indeed grey, is raced by an all female ownership and is out of the Commands mare, Talkin’ About.
We can see that there’ll be a lot of talkin’ about the Written Tycoons in coming weeks.
