As a follow up to our recent post about
racing in Iran, we’ve been kindly contacted by Hamid Tehrnachi, who informs us
that the Bel Esprit (from Jill Mary) that has been blitzing them at downtown Gonbad,
is indeed something special. Last Friday she won a hard fought affair over 1000m (in 59.32 seconds) and has now been first past in the post in five races.
Named Magic Million – somewhat appropriate
given that she was purchased from Eliza Park’s 2009 Gold Coast National Horses
in Training Sale – the Bel Esprit filly is - according to Hamid - "very good with a powerful conformation and loves her racing".
Hamid also pointed out that Iran Asbdavani is the country’s official racing body and has a website on Iran racing
– www.asbdavani.com ... which provides an overview on the industry and, thankfully, has an English translation (clearly helpful given that my Farsi isn’t what it should be!).
