Shorts odds to capture the national title –
by winners AND with a superior strike rate – Bel Esprit (below) is already having a
tremendous season (his best to date) as a sire of 2YOs.
Yesterday it was juvenile winner No. 13 –
vaulting him to 5th on that ladder – when Miss Grey Goose took out
the GRC Member Maiden Plate over 1000m at Geelong.
Out of the Danzero mare, Incur, and bred by
Greg Wells, Miss Grey Goose was having just her second outing for trainer
Matthew Hyland and looked every bit the goods as she cruised to the line with
3.3 lengths to spare.
Stepping out for the first time over 1000m
on a heavy Sandown surface in June, Miss Grey Goose overraced and had to be
steadied when tightened for room, but there were no excuses at Geelong and the
flashy grey might well have an interesting spring ahead.
