Explosive sprinter, INSTINCTION, has been
secured for stud duties at Eliza Park International.
The first stallion acquisition under the
new banner, Instinction will join the Queensland roster to stand alongside
another quality speed horse in Love Conquers All and the Group One sire,
Monashee Mountain.
Trained by Mick Price, Instinction proved
himself one of Melbourne’s finest and fastest with victories in the Hilton
Hotels Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day, the Zeditave Stakes and the Weekend
Hussler on the Caulfield Guineas program.
A son of Australia’s soon to be crowned
Champion General Sire and Champion 2YO Sire, Exceed And Excel (whose 71 stakes
winners include this year’s Golden Slipper hero Overreach), Instinction is out
of the Encosta de Lago mare, Delago Mist, a Group Two winner at two.
What’s more, Instinction hails from the
immediate family of Group One winning sprinter and boom freshman sire, Wanted.
As for conformation, his trainer is clearly
a huge fan: “He’s an exceptional type … a real bull and correct in every way,”
Price enthused.
“This is a terrific addition to our lineup
and the right type of horse for Queensland,” Eliza Park International’s Sales
and Nominations Manager, Mark Lindsay points out. “A triple stakes winner, he
was very fast and as Mick (Price) said, he’s a really good type. He’s by a
Champion sire in Exceed And Excel and he’s out of an Encosta De Lago Group Two
winning 2YO.
“And to top it all off, he’s closely
related to Wanted whose first crop yearlings sold up to $460,000 at sales this
year.
“Best part of all … he’s only standing at a
fee of $5,500 – great value!”
