Champion
Victorian Sire, Bel Esprit, is on the verge of cracking the ton for season
2011/12 with 97 individual winners as of Sunday (15 April) night.
Bel Esprit has
lobbed with six winners in the past five days opening with Stacey Lee (ex.
Curio Jade by Varick) at Bendigo on Wednesday before a double to Sound of
Victory (ex. My Jaspa by Heroicity) at Ballarat and Bells Victory (ex. Stylish
Victory by Durham Ranger) at Kalgoorlie on Thursday.
Then, on
Saturday, the very promising City of Song (ex. Songs of Vienna by Umatilla)
scored at Flemington, while yesterday it was the turn of Hot Lover (ex.
Concluding) who scored as favourite at Echuca and Criminal Mind (ex. Flying
Gigi by Flying Spur), successful at Dubbo, who registered yet another double.
Special mention
for the John Moloney trained, City of Song (below), who is now heading north for the
Group Two Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm on 9 June following an emphatic
victory in the Melbourne City Mission Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on
Saturday. Winner of the Listed Blue Sapphire Classic a year ago, City of Song
was a lip second at Moonee Valley at his previous outing and now has three city
wins and a further three placings from just 11 starts.
