Received a nice email from South African, Nils Haug, who
purchased the Eliza Park bred Cape Cross filly from Vodka Twist (by Hurricane
Sky) at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions for $75,000.
Taken home to the land of the Springbok, the filly was
named Torra Bay, after the resort at Namibia on South Africa’s west coast – a
stretch of coast famous for its shipwrecks.
Well, it appears the now 4YO mare has had some issues,
but she’s anything but a shipwreck, winning four and running third in her first
five starts including the Listed Kwazulu Natal Stakes at Durban.
In what was clearly a display of sibling loyalty, Nils
sold Torra Bay (below) to his brother Knut … just before she came out and won her
stakes race.
Meanwhile, Vodka Twist is currently in foal to 2010
Kentucky Derby winner and Eliza Park shuttler, Super Saver.
