ELIZA PARK QLD ANNOUNCES ROSTER

After announcing earlier in the week that it would establish a division of its successful operation in Queensland, leading stud farm, Eliza Park, has today revealed the lineup of stallions for 2012.
Underscoring its commitment to the new venture, Eliza Park will re-locate reigning Champion First Season Sire, Written Tycoon, from Victoria, where he will be joined by exciting newcomers in Love Conquers All and Pressday.
Current resident, Monashee Mountain – who has been a constant source of winners from his Innisplain home – remains at the property, rounding out the quality quartet.
“There has been considerable speculation about which, if any, of Eliza Park’s current Victorian roster would head north, but I’m sure the decision to shift Written Tycoon will come as a surprise to many,” Eliza Park’s Nominations Manager, Mark Lindsay, points out. “However, we believe that it serves to show the industry our commitment to Queensland.
“Written Tycoon has been one of our most popular stallions since arriving at Eliza Park, covering large books of mares each season. His capture of the national First Season Sires’ premiership really broke the glass ceiling for non-NSW based stallions and he’s proving it’s no fluke with his current high standing on the second season chart.
“It make good sense to send him north: he has worked successfully with a wide range of broodmare sires in Victoria and he’ll have an even greater cross section of mares at his new home: he’s a tremendously versatile stallion with a clear ability to upgrade his mares … besides, he’s by the ill-fated but highly successful Queensland sire, Iglesia, he was bred in the state and one of his best performers to date is Trump, recent winner of the Group Three Gunsynd Classic in Brisbane.”
The introduction of both Love Conquers All and Pressday will have no less an impact on broodmare owners either.
The most expensive yearling by Mossman ever sold, Love Conquers All is a cracking type and, ironically, will fill the same box as his sire did: back when the newly acquired Eliza Park Queensland was known as Noble Park.
Trained by Team Hawkes, Love Conquers All (below) would ultimately string together five stakes races defeating, along the way, the likes of Group One winners Hay List, More Joyous, Hot Danish, Rangirangdoo, King Mufhasa, Metal Bender, Sniper’s Bullet and Black Piranha.
Second in the time honoured Group Ones – the Doncaster and Doomben 10,000 – Love Conquers All would also run a lip second in the Group One George Ryder Stakes.
A half brother to stakes winning 2YO, She’s Meaner, Love Conquers All is out of the Group One winning mare She’s A Meanie.
Pressday was cut from similar cloth to that of Love Conquers All: a superb athlete with a lightning turn of foot and ability to carry that speed to a mile. Launched from the powerful Chris Waller stable, Pressday was sent to Brisbane as a winter 2YO and swept all before him, firstly taking out the BRC Champagne Classic-G2 before capturing the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes-G2.
In his penultimate juvenile assignment, Pressday would sweep Brisbane’s 2YO Triple Crown, becoming the first horse since Lovely Jubly in 2002 to achieve the feat and only the second horse ever.
Franking the form as a spring 3YO, Pressday would take out the MRC Sandown Guineas-G2, prompting trainer Waller to state: “On pure ability, there is a not a horse in the stable that can match Pressday”. A considerable wrap from a trainer who has saddled up 13 Group One winners since 2010.
Pressday is a first crop son of Group winning 2YO, Domesday, in turn a son of the highly influential Red Ransom. Pressday, both in physique and bearing, closely resembles his grandsire who has worked extremely well on both sides of the equator with over 100 stakes winners to his credit: most prominent among them is the Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy, Dubai World Cup winner Electrocutionist, Charge Forward, Group One BTC Cup winner Duporth and, importantly, the Eliza Park bred Group One winner, Red Dazzler, a Champion Queensland First Season Sire.
Adding to his bona fides, Pressday also hails from a Group One winning family.
Monashee Mountain requires little introduction to Queensland broodmare owners.
Since heading to stud with Group victories at two and three, this bred in the purple entire has carved a niche for himself in the northern state with a host of stakes winners, including Group One Stradbroke Handicap hero, La Montagna.
Few stallions could lay claim to such a pedigree: by the immortal Danzig, Monashee Mountain is out of a Mr Prospector mare and is a half brother to four other stakes winners including US Horse of the Year, Mineshaft.
With 430 winners and 15 stakes winners world wide, Monashee Mountain is clearly living up to expectations.
