With Hay List hovering for a spring return
and Mic Mac giving plenty in the June Stakes earlier this month, Statue of
Liberty is still on the radar and promising 2YO, Liberty, produced an
encouraging blip yesterday over 1000m at Echuca.
Having only her second outing after a
second on debut, the flashy grey flew home to grab a comfortable win for her
owners Southern Cross Racing and trainer Gerald Egan.
From the Lion Hunter mare, Paw Prints,
Liberty hails from the same ‘return’ crop as Group runnerup, Octane Flyer,
Baker Boy, Ile Aux Cygnes, New York Rain and Spirits Dance.
Interestingly, while Statue of Liberty has
produced his share of 2YO winners: Elysees, Broadway Harmony, Dan Baroness et
al, Hay List (below) didn’t start until he was a January 3YO and Mic Mac until the
spring of his 3YO season.
