With another treble yesterday, Victoria’s
perennial champ, Bel Esprit, is now 15 winners clear on the Australian Leading
Sires’ table by winners.
Marvellous 7YO, Esprit de Bullet won his
ninth start yesterday in the Sloans Sands Handicap over 1050m at Morphettville
– following on from his neck second in the Listed Manihi Stakes in May – and
despite some lengthy layoffs this horse just keeps going.
With four city wins this season, Esprit de
Bullet (below) didn’t add to Bel Esprit’s ‘individual’ tally yesterday but both the
lightly raced Conquistador (in his first run for 33 weeks) and Belwina, first
up in five months, certainly did.
Bel Esprit has now produced 143 winners of
218 races in 2012/13.
