With four winners and a couple of city placings
on Saturday, it’s not hard to see why Monashee Mountain (below) has a loyal band of
followers among the breeding fraternity.
One of the best bred stallions standing in
Australia, Monashee Mountain has always maintained a steady flow of winners and
Saturday’s windfall was far from an aberration.
A Group winning son of the legendary Danzig and
a half brother to US Horse of the Year in Mineshaft, Monashee Mountain is out
of the Group One winning Mr Prospector mare, Prospectors Delite.
Typifying the stallion’s versatility, Monashee
Mountain’s ‘reps’ on Saturday included the speedy 2YO, Pandora Charm, and the
evergreen Patties Mate, a 9YO sprinter who took his earnings past the $300k
mark with a solid third over 1350m at Doomben.
Pandora Charm, trained by Barry Baldwin, was
having only her second start when scoring comfortably over 900m … the first leg
of a MM double at the Gold Coast with Kelly Schweida’s Inside Page showing
plenty of dash later in the afternoon to win well over the 1100m. Inside Page
is also lightly raced and was having only her second hit out after a debut
second at Doomben last month.
Meanwhile, Monashee Mountain’s other winners on
Saturday were the Darryl Gardiner trained Rascal and Charlie Britt’s flyer
Monnamee.
