GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS PROFILE

LOT 591: Brown colt, GOD’S OWN - SINIKKA

There’s no form like current form – especially when that form relates to a catalogue page in one of Australasia’s leading yearling sales.
This might well be the first foal of Distant Music mare Sinikka who ran fourth in the Blue Diamond Preview-LR at two, but the rest of the family is ‘obliging’ with a host of recent winners. And we’re not talking fifth and sixth dam either!
Sinikka’s dam, Markka, is a half sister to no less than seven other winners including stakes winners The Heavyweight, Happy Strike, Zedrich and Born Western, plus the stakes placed pair of Danarich and Little Doutes.
Markka herself was very smart, winning two and finishing runnerup in two others from only five starts. Apart from Sinikka and multiple winner Corbett King, Markka is also the dam of exciting Fastnet Rock 2YO Flokkati who ran a thrilling second to Roulettes in the St Albans Stakes-LR at Flemington on 13 December.
Meanwhile, Mercedes Benz-LR winner Born Western has produced one right off the top shelf in Nullarbor Crossing (pictured below), a Choisir sprinter who gave rivals a smack at Flemington on New Year’s Day, winning comfortably over the 1000m journey.
(Coincidentally, Eliza Park will sell a Canny Lad half brother to Nullarbor Crossing at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale [Lot 26]).
Finally, while another of Markka’s half sister’s in Addictive didn’t reach the black type heights of siblings, she has proven herself more than capable in the breeding barn, producing the multiple Group placed So Anyway ($250k in stakes) and is granddam of spring time winner The Middleweight.
Throw in the fact that this colt is by the exciting young sire God’s Own and you have one helluva happening yearling.
