Liam Birchley (below) can certainly turn out a
horse and Write Cheek looked the goods at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
However, the $6 might have looked a bit
shaky when the Written Tycoon filly was still back in 11th place
400m from home, but Damian Browne let out the spinnaker and she zoomed past
Whitesails to grab line honours.
After winning at Doomben by 4.5 lengths as
a 2YO, Write Cheek finished midfield in two stakes events before being tipped
out until November. She appears to have matured into a class sprinter and after
winning at the Gold Coast on 24 November, she ran a solid third in the Listed
Mode Plate at Eagle Farm in December and a good third at the Gold Coast leading
into today’s race.
Out of the Jetball mare, Kacheek, and bred
by Heinrich Bloodstock, Write Cheek is linebred to Marscay through a son and a daughter
and was sold to Aquanita Racing at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions for
$100,000.
Written Tycoon is having another successful
week with the unbeaten 2YO, Grand Tycoon (now four from four) scoring on
Wednesday while The Tornado won in Macau on Friday.
