PROMPT DECISION WAS LIBERATING

You’ve gotta love happy endings …
When Blue Sky Thoroughbreds snapped up the Exceed And Excel mare, Prompt, from Eliza Park at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale, she had no runners and little in the way of racetrack performance.
However, on the plus side, she was out of a multiple stakes placed Desert Sun mare, had a Bel Esprit foal back at Eliza, and was in foal to Statue Of Liberty.
The resultant Statue Of Liberty – a nifty looking colt – was consigned to the 2012 GCMM National Weanling Sale where he was purchased by Brett Howard’s Randwick Bloodstock for $50,000 on behalf of Kulani Park.
Yesterday the colt found a new home with the Hong Kong Jockey Club to the tune of $200,000, helped in no small part by the commanding win of the previously mentioned Bel Esprit colt – subsequently named Diamond Glow (below) – who won at debut in the rich Gold Carat 2YO at Caulfield last Saturday. The fact that Statue Of Liberty has plenty of currency on both sides of the equator didn’t hurt either!
