God’s Own mare, Magnolia Lane, bounced back to
her best yesterday, recording her fifth career victory when successful over the
mile at Gosford.
Out of the Umatilla mare, Stikumonice, and
hailing from the family of brilliant sire Twig Moss, Magnolia Lane was beaten a
nostril at her previous start and took her earnings over the $100k mare with
yesterday’s score.
We can only assume that Magnolia Lane is named
after the famous ‘drive’ at Augusta National, which is every golfer’s idea of
heaven. Another reason, and perhaps a bit more cryptic, is that the
groundskeepers at Augusta – if the roses threaten to bloom too early – stick’um
on ice.
The other Magnolia Lane! |
