Danehill stallion, Danbird, who returned to the Eliza Park
fold last year as one of the foundation stallions for its new Queensland
operation, has enjoyed a successful weekend with a winner in NSW on Friday, a
winner in Brisbane on Saturday and a double in Tassie and Victoria on Sunday!
The lightly raced 4YO, Merry Christmas won over 1280m at
Muswellbrook and has now notched up two from three this time in.
Stepping out over 1200m at Doomben on Saturday, Kelly
Doughty’s ultra-consistent, Morning Captain, got up in a thriller and has now
pocketed $331,500 for owners with his six career victories including a win in
the National Jockey Celebration Queensland Day-LR at Doomben last April.
Tegan Keys might well have a handy type on her hands too
with Minute Repeater grabbing his first win in town at Hobart yesterday after a
couple of ‘green’ performances.
And, finally, Stuart Webb might have needed angina pills
after the debut performance of Mybenz at Pakenham, when his 3YO filly was slow
to begin and couldn’t find daylight until 200m from home. However, Mybenz flew
over the final stages to get up in a thriller.
There’s more in store …
